SSANZ presents Two Handed Trophy for Auckland to Tauranga Race
15 Apr 2006
SSANZ has received numerous enquires for more longer distance Two Handed racing following 2005's very successful SIMRAD series. Rather than add yet another event onto a already busy calender it was decided to work in with Tauranga Yacht and Powerboat Club and promote a Two Handed division. SSANZ has commissioned a very impressive trophy which was presented to Tauranga Yacht and Powerboat Club at this years race prizegiving. The SSANZ trophy will be awarded annually to the first Two Handed crew on PHRF overall.
The Auckland to Tauranga race has a long history but interest has built over the last few years to the point that 2006 saw almost 70 entries. It's a great event with a challenging course which passes through Colville Channel and the "Hole in the Wall". SSANZ is proud to be associated with a great event and hope the addition of a Two Handed Division will make a already great event even better and further boost entries.
We believe the winning crew will be unable to drink the cup dry after they fill it with rum and will need some help from supporters. So the challenge is there....
