SSANZ Safety at Sea Two Handed Triple Series 2014

Want to challenge yourself ? Join in on New Zealand's biggest Two Handed Series.  With 3 races spaced approximately one month apart and courses to cater for all sizes of keelboat (and multihulls) SSANZ has come up with a successful formula that just gets better every year. Exciting changes for 2014

The new sponsors are putting up a major spotprize of a new Spinnaker! to be drawn from competitors that complete all races and radio scheds, attend briefing and the Prizegiving.


This year all series entries will receive 2 free event T Shirts at the briefing and include 2 free tickets to the prizegiving (which will feature live music from Phil Hart) 

Note Prizegiving Tickets are not transferable


Important dates to mark in your calender are:

Race 1 Baltic 50                          12th July

Race 2 NZ Spars and Rigging 60   9th August

Race 3 Evolution Sails 100           6th September

Amendment 1

Rule 1.9 Shall be changed to read:

In One-Design divisions the relevantClass Rules will apply. The Class Rules for Pied Pipers will be those allowingthe use of prods and

gennakers as authorised by the Pied Piper Class OwnersAssociation Committee.

Farr 727?s must declare any non classmodifications to the Farr 727 Owners Association Committee.

The Young 88 class division will allow theuse of a spare measured class no.1 spinnaker. This sail may becarried on board in addition to standard set of class sails & must be thesame sail carried throughout the series and be on-board for all races. Thespare can only be used in the case of irreparable damage to the primary no. 1class measured spinnaker. Should such damage occur, the entrant will notify therace officer by vhf radio or phone and receive an acknowledgement. The class measurer may require to inspect the damaged spinnaker following the race within2 days of the race finish. This clarification is intended to prevent twodifferent spinnakers and two different design shapes being used during a singlerace or across different races in this series, unless proven damage occurs.



Amendment 2

Rule 6.1 Shall be changed to read:

THE COURSES

Baltic 50 Longhaul & Multihull Course

Start rounding Tiri Channel Navy Buoy, (starboard), GannetRock (starboard), to finish off Orakei Wharf. (approx 50nm)

Baltic 50 Shorthaul Course

Start passing Rangitoto (starboard), rounding Motuhoropapa Island (starboard), Ahaaha Rocks (starboard), Rocky Bay Buoy

(starboard), passing Motuihe (starboard) to finish off Orakei Wharf. (approx 41nm)

Baltic 50 Smallboat Course

Start passing Rangitoto (starboard), rounding Haystack (Orarapa) Island (starboard), Crusoe Rock(starboard), passing

Motuihe (starboard), rounding Motukorea Buoy (starboard), Illomama Buoy (port) to finish off Orakei

Wharf. (approx 29nm)



Amendment 3

Rule 6.1 Shall be changed to read:

Safety at Sea Smallboat Short Course:

Start rounding Saltworks Buoy (starboard), Northern LeadingBuoy (port), Motukorea Buoy (port), Illomama Buoy (starboard) SergeantChannel Buoy (starboard) to finish Orakei Wharf (approx. 15nm)


Amendment 4

Rule 8.2 Shall be changed to read:

The starting line will be a line from the signal mast of the SSANZ Committee boat and Northern Leading Buoy. Signals will be made from the boat. A yellow triangular SSANZ Safety at Sea buoy will be laid as an inner distance mark. Boats shall not pass between the SSANZ Safety at Sea buoy and the start boat.
